Ellie has a perfect life- a successful gallery of her own, loving husband and two beautiful children. Then all of a sudden, one day her husband brings in a guest, Ace, to their house to stay. Ace is both charming and mysterious and Ellie cant seem to decide whether to trust him or not.. Her life turns upside down. Her husband starts acting weird ,a girl gets murdered and her son is a suspect, her gallery gets attacked. She begins questioning everyone. Who is this Ace? Why has her husband brought him? What's going on with her son? You will keep guessing till the end and it wont be disappointing!! This ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is showing as General Fiction/Mystery & Thriller, with the last line of the description being “stunning psychological thriller”. I would say the first 80% of this is general fiction while the last 20% is “thriller”. I felt like this was two separate books. One fiction and then a short thriller novel. I was disappointed as this being a thriller. A local high school girl is missing, then her body is found. This storyline is interwoven throughout the book. Then it becomes a fiction novel. Ellie’s husband Seth invites his cousin’s friend, Ace to come and stay for “a week or so”. That becomes longer than a week. Seth is acting distant and has lost his job. Ellie is starting to feel uncomfortable in her feelings for Ace. This part of the story was boring for me. I went in thinking this was a thriller. Then we get to the end and it gets better. I figured out what was going on. If you are new to thrillers, this might be ok, but if you are looking for heart pounding, page turning, can’t put down, this is not for you. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
She told him to make himself at home. He did. Life has been good to Ellie-she owns a successful art gallery, is deeply in love with her husband, Seth, and has two beautiful children, Brandon and Simone. But not everything is perfect . . . Lately, Seth seems to have something on his mind and has become cold and distant. And things don't improve when he invites mysterious stranger Ace to stay in their home. Ace is charming, but Ellie can't help feeling there's more to him than meets the eye, that he has some kind of agenda. She's also aware that she is dangerously attracted to him. Then a girl at Brandon's school is murdered, and Ellie is beyond devastated when the police tell her they think her son might be involved. Ellie knows in her heart that Brandon is innocent and she feels certain that Ace is somehow connected to the disturbing things that are happening. She starts to dig for the truth and uncovers the terrible secret that will change her life in ways she can't imagine . . . No library descriptions found. |

Agreed! I can't imagine inviting a near-stranger to stay in my home. I immediately started wondering how and when they would usher him out the door! But Ellie is only mildly conflicted; Ace's presence shows her that she's actually kind of bored by her husband and her manicured domestic life. So sexy Ace is staying, and she can't take her eyes off him. Meanwhile, Ellie's teenage son shows alarming behavior, and Ace's presence offers an easy, relaxed, pool-playing camaraderie that is quite unlike his strained relationship with his stepfather.
