Too many lately were psychos chasing the cross family it was nice to get back to the great cross family who happen to also fight crime. Not five stars only because they are surface level book junkie reads not deep thought provoking life changing books but five star compared to other Alex cross books for sure! Book title and author: 3/22/23 Deadly Cross (Alex Cross Book 28) James Patterson Why I picked this book up: I read and liked the first Women's Murder Club then wanted to switch up my Patterson books up and I plan to read more of the above series too and will write on those after I read them but I wanted to see how Alex Cross measured up. Thoughts: the Ad read, “The murder of a glamorous DC socialite becomes Alex Cross’s deadliest case since Along Came a Spider. Kay Willingham led a life as glamorous as it was public—she was a gorgeous Georgetown socialite, philanthropist, and the ex-wife of the vice president. So why was she parked in a Bentley convertible idling behind a DC private school, in the middle of the night, with the man who was the head of that school? Who shot them both, point blank, and why? The shocking double homicide is blazed across the internet, TV, newspapers—and across Alex Cross's mind. Kay had been his patient once. And maybe more. While John Sampson of DC Metro Police investigates the last movements of Christopher Randall, the educator killed along with Kay Willingham, detective Alex Cross and FBI special agent Ned Mahoney find unanswered questions from Willingham's past, before she arrived in DC and became known in DC society as someone who could make things happen. They travel to Alabama to investigate Kay's early years. There they find a world of trouble, corruption, and secrets, all of them closed to outsiders like Cross and Mahoney. Kay had many enemies, but all of them seemed to need her alive. The harder the investigators push, the more resistance they find when they leave behind the polite law offices and doctors' quarters of the state capital. Alex Cross will need to use all his skills as a doctor, a detective, and a family man to prevent that resistance from turning lethal . . . again.” With high expectations I began this book. Honestly this book started out good and as this book went on, it became less interesting and rather slow with not much character development. I kept reading expecting it to pick up and get me to the end but this book didn’t for me. Why I finished this read: I put this book down after hours and hours. Stars rating: while this book began good I have to give it a 1 out of 5 stars, I completely lost interest. Maybe I can try again in the future (or maybe not) ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

"A scandalous double homicide in the nation's capital opens the psychological case files on Detective Alex Cross. Until Kay Willingham's shocking murder inside a luxury limousine, the Georgetown socialite, philanthropist, and ex-wife of the sitting vice-president led a public life. Yet few, including her onetime psychologist, had any inkling of Kay's troubled past in the Deep South. Murdered alongside her is Randall Christopher, a respected educator whose political ambitions may have endangered both their lives. While John Sampson of DC Metro Police tracks Randall's final movements, Alex Cross and FBI Special Agent Ned Mahoney travel to Alabama to investigate Kay's early years. They discover that although Kay had many enemies, all of them needed her alive. Alex is left without a viable suspect, even as he faces a desperate choice between breaking a trust and losing his way, as a detective, and as the protector of his family."
