I liked the informational book “Emeril’s There’s a Chef in My World!: Recipes that Take you Places” by Emeril Lagasse for three reasons. First, while this book provides information about food, it is also a cookbook showing young students different types of food they can make. For example, on side of a page it explains the food and where it originated along with history about the particular food, and on another page it explains what the recipe calls for and specific direction. Second, the illustrations enhance the information and recipes because it shows readers what their final meal should look like. For example, on a page where Emeril is giving background on a pasta dish there are illustrations of the dish and the specific ingredients. Third, this book is multicultural so it pushes students to think about foods that are unique to specific cultures around the world. Dishes coming from different countries such as Spain, Mexico, and Italy are shown throughout this book. The big idea of this informational cookbook is to provide students with knowledge about food from around the world along with recipes to make each dish. ( ) Celebrity chef, Emeril Lagasse, guides readers on an international cooking tour of places like Cuba, Jamaica, Thailand, Germany, Ecuador, England, and Australia. Recipes appear on two-page spreads that include trivia tidbits, scenic photographs, and flag illustrations. Organized like a traditional cookbook, chapters progress through the different meals of the day. Countries are not indexed. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
