I was actually really looking forward to this since I enjoyed [b:Moonsong|8960470|Moonsong (The Vampire Diaries The Hunters, #2)|L.J. Smith|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1332571817s/8960470.jpg|13837295] so much, however the book didn't live up to my expectations. Though it did have some moments I didn't see coming (which I had to read twice to double check it had actually happened!), it was lacking something. I think the writer was trying to tie up everything since this is meant to be the last one (though they said that three books ago). It was nice to see some old faces making a reappearance, even if it was only for one scene. Though the ending does leave it open for future sequels, I can't see it happening. As I said, the writer tried to wrap everything up and they did an alright job at it. So in a way, though it wasn't a great book on its own, it was a satisfying ending to series. This book was bittersweet for me, though many feel it was time to see the series end, I am also sad to see it end. I also have mixed feelings about Elena's decision, through the course of the books I have fallen for both Salvatore boys and it's hard to choose just one. That's why I feel the way things were tied up in the end were good. Not great or fantastic but good. Terrible, terrible, awful, so bad, I hate it, ugh. Take note of how it says "CREATED BY" L. J. Smith. Same as the last few Gossip Girl novels were "CREATED BY." They are ghostwritten and terrible. Don't waste your time. If you're a fan of the show try some of L. J. Smith's other series she wrote, like The Forbidden Game, Dark Visions and Night World. You won't be disappointed! ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

I'm not going to review this in full. If you've been liking the Vampire Diaries, do yourself a favour: don't read this. Consider the end of "The Return" the end of the story and cut your losses. The major cliffhanger doesn't matter, because anything you'll get out of this from here on will just make you sadder. ( )
