Geography is more than maps and globes, more than latitude and longitude lines, more than continents, oceans, islands, and your own neighborhood. In Got Geography! Lee Bennett Hopkins gathers vivid poems by sixteen poets and Philip Stanton creates glorious artwork to show that geography isn't just about finding your way. It's the jumping-off point for dreams and imagination. If you've got geography, you're ready for adventure.… (mere)

A compilation of poems all having to do with the earth's geography. All very fun poems that might help students become familiar with geographical terms and areas of our world. I particularly liked "If I Were the Equator."

Use to incorporate poetry in Social Studies. Also an informational book.

This book of poetry takes readers on a journey through the groegraphy of our world. From "mapping," to poems about "latitude and longitude," and a personified equator, Hopkins chose a collection of peotry to make geography fun and interesting. Works about the ocean, mountains, islands and the horizon will have student learning in a whimsical, yet educational manner. ( )

I am typically not a huge fan of poetry, but this book is filled with creative poems that relay the features of our lovely planet in a brief an d entertaining way . It covers violent forces, latitude and longitude, the more beautiful side (rolling waves, canyons, mountains, etc...), geological formations (islands, mountains, forests), and much more.

This would be excellent for teaching about different parts of our world. ( )
