An excellent book! It is lighthearted, fun and romantic. This book is an easy read that will make you fall in love. The queer representation is wonderful and the characters are complex, 3D and well developed. The interactions are natural and the book flows well. Absolutely loved reading about a queer, brown, curvy woman! Such a great read! ( )

Finished Take a Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert this morning and she's officially my favorite romance author. Zafir Ansari is a Muslim former rugby player turned security guard at a university where bisexual PhD candidate, Danica Brown, is a professor.

Zafir is a true romantic who can't do one-night stands, loves romance novels, and facilitate an after school program for teen boys to help them improve their emotional IQ. After a significant heartbreak, Dani doesn't do love nor relationships. She prefers no strings attached sex with men and women. After a smoke alarm goes off at the university, Dani becomes trapped in an elevator and Zafir has to rescue her in a dramatic fashion. The picture of Zafir running out of the building with Dani in his arms goes viral and signal boosts Zafir's after school program. Dani and Zafir arrange a faux social media relationship that leads to a smoking hot sexual relationship.

Take a Hint, Dani Brown features my favorite romance trope of pretend relationships. It also flips the relationship-averse trope by making it the heroine and not the hero. Dani is a plus-size, Black, queer woman, teaching feminist gender studies who is comfortable in her sexuality. She's also a practicing witch who loves high heels, and wearing her hair cropped and colored. Zafir suffers from panic attacks, but is very soft hearted. He is surrounded and influenced by the women in his family--mom, niece, and sister-in-law. He also has a tight friendship with another man where there isn't a hint on of "dude bro" bravado despite them both being athletes.

I love how Talia handles interracial relationships, chronic mental or physical illness, and Black women in her romance novels. It's a balancing act in which she succeeds.

I was in the mood for a good romance when I picked this book up and had high expectations after loving the first book in this trilogy titled Get a Life, Chloe Brown. Happily enough, this book far exceeded those high expectations. I truly adored this book and both Zaf and Dani. There was just something about the two of them that had me instantly both invested in their relationship and rooting for them as a couple. Plus, this book was just funny - I found myself laughing out loud a couple of times at it. It was just one of those delightful reads that I picked up at the perfect time and fit my reading mood perfectly. There's nothing better than when this happens in my opinion! There is a reason this trilogy is so popular and I won't be waiting too much longer before I pick up the final book in this series.

Overall, I enjoyed my time with this book immensely. It was just a fun read with a couple that I adored. I turned the pages as fast as I could because I needed to see them get their happy ever after. Talia Hibbert has become a go to romance author for me - I'll be working my way through her backlist and reading everything/anything that she writes. Pick this book up (and you don't have to read the books in order) if you enjoy a steamy romance, are looking for relatable characters that will make you laugh, or just want a book that you can't put down. Another book that I can highly recommend!

Bottom Line: A romance that makes me smile just thinking about it!

Disclosure: I received a copy of this book thanks to the publisher and NetGalley. I also ended up reading a print copy courtesy of my local library. ( )
