It's not often that a freshman author hits it out of the park like Merel Pierce did. She took the Omegaverse and made it her own, and made it work within her own framework.

I think that she did a really fantastic job at creating tension in the story. Not only did she create that tension, she gave us enough of a break from it that we could catch our breath and ready for the next bit without feeling overwhelmed by what was happening. That takes some true skill.

I thought that December and Nikolai worked well together as well as apart. December is smart and strong, and willing to fight when necessary. Nikolai is smart and sneaky, but he's so protective and caring. There pretty much is nothing that he wouldn't do to make sure that December is safe and happy.

I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series. ( )

There is just something about the Omegaverse story that I love. Add in Mafia and sweet lord it is a Festivus Miracle in my eyes. I am very picky about Omegaverse, probably because I have been spoiled by my Queen Satan (Addison Cain in case there was any wondering who I am referring to) and therefore am hesitant a lot of the time to venture forward into new authors. This is one time that I am glad to say that the risk was worth it. Especially considering that this is a debut book. MINDBLOWN.

This was an unusual take on the story. The worldbuilding was well done. I enjoyed the details that the author used to further the story. I liked the dynamic of the characters. There were times this was hard to read but it did add to the story in regards to the connection that Nikolai and December shared. It showed that Nikolai was prepared to compromise when it came to her. I liked that he got nurturing after they were found again and was so instrumental in her healing. I would have liked to see more of an epilogue of how things were in the future now that he was trusting her and giving her freedom.

I really hope that this author continues with the story of the "Sacred Omegas" as it is very intriguing. Especially, if they all have a different dynamic or ability. Highly recommended for anyone that likes Omegaverse. Be warned. There are triggers in this book which shouldn't be a problem as most people who do read Omegaverse tend to teeter on the precipice of the dark abyss. ( )
