This was such a sweet story about a sweet puppy. This was a perfect story for any animal lover student. I am confident that students would enjoy this book as well as learn a little bit of compassion along the way. ( )

A loving wordless picture book that teaches the importance of patience, love, and empathy. Any dog lover would love this book. A woman befriends a homeless dog who lives under a park bench the woman likes to sit on. She visits him daily and patiently wins the dogs' affection by playing with him and gaining his trust. Finally, one rainy day the dog can no longer stand to be without his favorite human and follows her home. The woman decides to go back to get the dog in the storm without realizing the dog was already waiting for her at home. When she gets back home she is happy to realize the dog is there and she takes Stormy into his/her forever home.

This book would be great for students learning about empathy and patience. I would love to see a unit where students could draw a story with the same elements of empathy. Their story board could be wordless like the book, and they could hand draw or use digital tools provided. ( )

Heartwarming, wordless picture book that pulls at the heartstrings of any dog lover. A woman visiting a park finds a stray dog. The dog is hesitant and hides from the stranger. After several visit the dog is still hesitant and runs away when the woman tries to befriend the dog. Until finally the dog sneakily follows the women home. However, when a storm rages the women go out searching and saves the dog from the storm. The book celebrates the ideas of patience, friendship and finding a forever home. ( )
