A modern multiplication primer that tackles the terrors of a typical school year. Learning math has never been this much fun! Inspired by a Victorian math primer, Terrible Times Tables is a modern take on learning one's multiplication tables, from numbers 2 to 10, featuring elementary school themes of homeroom, field trips, cafeteria food, holidays, and recitals. Featuring a reluctant narrator and a few unwitting critters, learning math has never been so much fun or amusing.… (mere)

An unusual book about multiplication. Divided into eight chapters, each chapter focuses on a different time table with a different topic. Short sentences go along with each multiplication and rhyme. The first chapter goes along with the time table for two and the heading is back to school. 2x2=4 New kids at the door. An example from the second chapter on Halloween is 3x7=21 A haunted house! You better run. Very clever new rhymes to remember your time tables. There is a chapter on Valentine’s Day and the last chapter, time table for 9 is the End of the year. The book covers a whole school year.
There is an index and the book closes with all the times tables covered.
Accompanied by cute illustrations combining different media but staying in the same pallet of subdued colors. A great alternative to learning time tables.
