Pluto takes it pretty rough when it discovers the Earthlings no longer consider it a planet, but with the help of some friends in the solar system, it realizes it is still something very special.

An EXCELLENT picture book that focuses on Pluto getting downgraded to a dwarf planet, and poor Pluto has FEELINGS about this. Pluto visits his solar system buddies and is consoled by them. This book teaches science and astronomy in a fun manner and is even perfect for a kid to read who wants to learn the value of being small and different. The illustrations by Keller are fun and the story is very enlightening and intelligent. Highly recommended. ( )

Back when New Horizons flew past Pluto, I had the idea to write an educational children’s story from Pluto’s point of view about how Pluto felt upon “demotion” and then found a place to belong among the wonderful new worlds of the Kuiper belt. It turns out I wasn’t the only one with this idea; I've seen at least 8 with similar themes. This is one I recommend. It’s very funny with distinct voices for each of the planets, and has really engaging illustrations, but still educational. At the end, the Sun tells Pluto about how much everyone loves him and relates to him for being the underdog, which is pretty cute. ( )

Really clever book about Pluto, and all the other planets. Word play, physics jokes, and information tid-bits.
Definitely practice reading this with different voices for the planets. The illustrations will help you pick a good voice. ( )
