A New York Times bestseller by the author of The Ninja: An American martial artist travels to Tokyo and becomes the target of an international conspiracy.   When his best friend dies under suspicious circumstances, martial arts expert Nicholas Linnear vows revenge. And while he may look American, Linnear's childhood spent in the dojos of Japan taught him that vengeance must never be hurried.   He takes a job for the billionaire industrialist who ordered the murder, planning to befriend his target during a trip to Tokyo. But even for a modern-day ninja, there is such a thing as too close for comfort. In the bustling city, Linnear finds far more to worry about than the intricacies of Japanese business. He is being pursued by a miko: a female assassin, part ninja and part sorceress, whose beauty is matched only by her skill in combat. Drawn into a tangle of corporate intrigue, international espionage, and hedonistic sex, Linnear will have to put revenge on hold if he is to leave Japan alive.   From the #1 New York Times-bestselling author who currently writes the Jason Bourne novels, this is a "swiftly paced and fascinating" thriller that offers "an intricately designed puzzle" (Chicago Sun-Times).… (mere)

I was really into this ninja stuff in middle school, not so much as an adult. ( )

She is a sorceress--indescribably beautiful, overpoweringly sensual--who possesess incomprehensible powers. She is also a murderess who plans to use her power to kill Nicholas Linnear, the hero of THE NINJA.
This is only the beginning of this exotic thriller, where Lustbader weaves an utterly compelling tale of the CIA, the KGB, the technological world of modern Japan, and the mystical and dangerous realms of Ninja warriors....

If you are into the Japanese culture, ninjas, and other ancient asian arts, as well as a lot of very descriptive sex scenes, this is the book for you. ( )

This is the second book in Eric Van Lustbader's series that stars the Ninja Nicholas Linnear. It is well written and continues on where the first book left off. This thriller has everything, the CIA, the KGB, the technological world of modern Japan, and the mystical and dangerous realms of Ninja warriors. Note that the sex is very explicit. But he does give you great insight into the Japanese business mind and their methodology in martial arts training. We also have a well-trained sorceress out to murder Ninja hero. ( )

A Lustbader novel I do not remember much about, so it cannot have been very exciting.
