Another problem I face is coming up with dynamics.
I do this all because I have really, really bad ADHD which prevents me from writing out a quick review without spending 5 hours getting what should be done in 5 minutes. This is why I have the shelves, point and click.
For the most part my reviews are kind of like my thoughts, good and bad about the book, not so much as a "book report" that just gives whatever anyone else can find easily.
So with this book I must say that I laughed my ass off in a few scenes (my poor neighbors had to listen to this at 3 am when I was reading it). Seriously? I am still chuckling when i think to some scenes. Lets just say that when our heroine is "spreading her wings" she needs to be aware of who is around.
Anyway, I think you all are reading the reviews to see what everyone else thought. I liked it. It was guilty pleasure reading at it's best. There was a full blending of the casts, so lots of action scenes between Syn, Ryder, and the rest. Lots of humor, sex, and even the hint of a threesome! - although it might seem like the possibility of a love-triangle, this is not it at all.
Lena comes back from the grave (as we learned at the end of the previous book) and like Syn, she has come back "different" instead of being a Goddess, she has become a killing machine of some kind of supernatural that I won't give away here. The opening scene has her fighting against Lucian because he was sure she was dead, and now he's pissed something is wearing her body. Of course this all gets cleared up, and there are many learning curves as Lena continues her metamorphosis throughout the book. Yeah, we have ourselves another Mary Sue, but who cares.
Lena, Lucian and their crew along with Syn, Ryder and their whole crew are racing against the clock to save the humans left in their city (Seattle) after the gates of Hell has actually been released. Lots of people died.
Lena and Lucian have serious relationship drama that I wish would just stop. I can't even describe it but honestly? I got tired of it. Lena needed to relax and just let go. The past is in the past and what counts is the here and now.
Meanwhile there is lots of secondary character laughs and jokes.
On the other hand, we still don't know exactly who or what Lucian is. Three books and we STILL are just getting hints of how big, bad and scary to all the other beasties in this universe is without a payoff? Nope only bigger guesses with more allusions of grandeur (pun intended).
Also, just like every other book, the main ARC seems to be ending, when we learn it isn't over, and there is some kind of big fade to black revelation. So...happy waiting for the next year. This isn't a cliffhanger. Its more of a segue into a bigger reveal to be read next. So don't let this be a case of waiting til the series is over before reading. I do that, but it isn't necessary here.
