This book is really well written and illustrated. The location is in Norway and approximately between the months of September and March. The scenery and the illustrations to go along with them are extremely descriptive. The sun disappears for months and live in darkness. The family climbs the mountain to find the sunlight. Until the family finds sun everything is in darkness and coldness (ice and snow) until they find the warm sun and everything is bright again. ( )

This is a story about a young girl that wants the sun to come back because she is sick of living in the darkness. When she climbs over the mountain and sees the sun starting to come back, she welcomes back the sun with her entire family and they are all excited that they will no longer be living in darkness again. Too long for storytime. A Norwegian girl is describing murketiden(the murky time when the sun does not rise). Their is a folktale of a little girl climbing the highest mountain and bringing the sun back to her valley, this little girl wants to do the same thing, she is tired of the dark and night. She and her family climb the mountain and welcome back the sun. ( )
