Had enjoyed her autobiography, but felt this was a hurried money-earner piggy-backing on from a tv series. Not in the league of an Alan Whicker or Bill Bryson who both gave the appearance of choosing the places they visited & being genuinely interested in the people they met.

Sue in contrast appeared parachuted into various regions of the East with little personal input or purpose. It felt as though the people & places were chosen by lazy researchers (many of the interviewees appeared to be going through well-trodden paces).

When Sue wasn’t being shocked by the poverty & unsanitary conditions, she was being food poisoned. So this neither made me want to visit these places or feel comfortable with this superficial Western poverty tourism. ( )
