This award-winning poetry book had some definite highs and lows for me! I'll start of by saying that it took me a page or two to realize that there are multiple poems per page. I was confused, at first, about how each stanza connected to the next, and then I realized that they didn't and had to go back to the first page to read them as individual poems. Overall, the poems covered a variety of topics that will appeal to kids, from hot dogs to sea serpents to the Man in the Moon! Most are only a stanza or two long, so they're short, quick little poems. They reminded me a little bit of Shel and a little bit of "Oh Say Can You Say" (especially Nonny's poem about Betty Botter!) but it wasn't quite as successful to me in imagery or poetry. Some were quite silly, and I could imagine kids laughing at ones like, "It's hard to lose a friend/ When your heart is full of hope,/ But it's worse to lose a towel/ When your eyes are full of soap." ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
