We join the story as the Hero gets a phone call to say the heroine has collapsed and is in hospital.
Their history, meeting, marriage and then soon divorce is retold to us through retrospective.
Dual POV.
No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine.
Time of separation, the heroine has been on a few dates that didn't go anywhere, the Hero has dated a lot but there are no details of how far they went.
Later on it is said
"But don’t you ever accuse me of cheating on you. You’re the one who spent the four years since our marriage sleeping with anything that moved.”" He doesn't deny it.
In fact later it's said
But you...”
“Let you go. Slept with other women. I know. I hate myself, Imogen. I hate myself for all of that. For hurting you." So he's not celibate during separation.
I found the story quite sad, full of miscommunication, misunderstandings and adults scarred by childhood experiences.
The events take place over the Christmas season.
