A smart and swoony Rainbow Rowell romance in full colour graphic novel form.Deja and Josiah are seasonal best friends.Every autumn, all through high school, they've worked together at the best pumpkin patch in the whole wide world (not many people know that the best pumpkin patch in the whole wide world is in Omaha, Nebraska, but it definitely is). They say goodbye every Halloween, and they're reunited every September 1.But this Halloween is different - Josiah and Deja are finally seniors, and this is their last season at the pumpkin patch. Their last shift together. Their last goodbye.Josiah's ready to spend the whole night feeling melancholy about it. Deja isn't ready to let him. She's got a plan: What if instead of moping they went out with a bang? They could see all the sights! Taste all the snacks! And Josiah could finally talk to that cute girl he's been mooning over for three years . . .What if their last shift was an adventure?Beloved writer Rainbow Rowell and Eisner Award-winning artist Faith Erin Hicks have teamed up to create Pumpkinheads, a tender and hilarious story about two irresistible teens discovering what it means to leave behind a place - and a person - with no regrets.… (mere)

I try to express only my most honest opinion in a spoiler-free way. Unfortunately, there is still always a risk of slight spoilers despite my best efforts. If you feel something in my review is a spoiler please let me know. Thank you.

Last day working at the Pumpkin Patch, Deja and Josiah go on a mission. To find the Fudge Shoppe Girl so Josiah can finally talk to his 3-year crush.

I loved it. It's like an adventure, confined to a specific area that takes place in the span of 3 hours. The art is just gorgeous and has so many things that I just love about fall. Minus the pumpkin flavoured snacks. I don't like pumpkin.

The beginning of this may sound a bit cheesy as the whole point of the adventure is to get Josiah to talk to his crush. But its really more the friendship between Deja and Josiah. My favorite part is when some kid tries to fat shame Deja while waiting for a marshmallow and Josiah throws a marshmallow on the ground and tells the kid that that marshmallow is his. I fell in love a little bit there. Outside of being a bit chubby, she's black and appears to be bisexual. Which frankly I think we could see more of all three in books.

I literally read this entire thing in one sitting. Took my less than an hour and right before bed. I meant to just start it and finish it the next day as it was already late. But in typical me like fashion, that didn't happen. Rainbow Rowell is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine and this artist really is amazing. ( )

diverse middlegrade/teen graphic novel (bisexual Black teen and her best pumpkin patch friend go on a series of adventures on their last night working at the Patch).
lovely story, beautiful art, and a fun read with lots of clean, if not entirely honest, fun. The main characters are older (about to graduate from high school) but this could be read by middlegraders as well, and even tweens who are thirsty for more graphics. ( )

this was really predictable and the art didn't do it for me but still was a cute read ( )

Fall is my favorite season and this graphic novel brings all the things I love about Fall, the activities I enjoy doing during this season as well as all the treats you eat that just taste better when leaves have fallen and turned colors into a beautifully drawn and very cute package. Adorable, sweet, and nostalgic is this story that makes you remember your high school seasonal jobs and on-the-job friends as well as the fun of being a teen. This is a book that will be in the rotation as a re-read next year during the months of October-November. Highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get into graphic novels or those that already enjoy them and looking for another story to add to their collection. ( )

Nicely drawn, plot includes a high school girl who dates women and men, good fun to read, especially about these pumpkin patch places, which were foreign to me! ( )
