The perfect companion to read while watching the X-files. Podcast producer Brian Dunning takes all the favourite myths, conspiracies, urban legends and downright insane theories and debunks them in a few precise, measured, devastating sentences. All the favourites are here - flat earth, faked moon landing, Area 51, chemtrails, reptoids, Roswell, Philadelphia experiment, as well as some lesser-known and downright obscure ones ones (Finland doesn't exist, Plum Island, the Lucifer Project). As a sop to the committed tinfoil hat wearer, at the end Dunning includes a few examples where there is a actually a basis in truth - MKULTRA, the Gulf of Tonkin, numbers stations. Great piece of writing that will solve many arguments. ( )

Very interesting. A bane to all conspiracy theorist. Brian Dunning, who is the host of one of my favorite podcasts; Skeptoid, addresses conspiracy theories one by one and debunks them. If you’re Conspiracy Theorist you won’t care much for this book. If you’re not you’ll will read clear, solid, and rational arguments that will put these theories to rest. ( )

A good, accessible resource for many of the more common conspiracy theories. ( )
