Navy SEAL Lieutenant Jim "Spaceman" Slade's got a problem. A SEAL team is only as fast as its slowest member-and right now, thanks to his battered knees-that's Jim. He reluctantly takes medical leave, but he's a SEAL, so he spends his "vacation" as an instructor, helping out a former senior chief who runs a camp for SEAL wannabes. But to Jim's shock, he finds himself falling for the one woman attending the camp session-an obviously brilliant but seemingly timid lawyer who is determined to do everything her way, no matter how wrong. Ashley DeWitt's got a problem, too. She's a kickass lawyer, but when it comes to her personal life, she's a total pushover. When she finds herself hiding behind her condo dumpster to avoid a confrontation with an ex, she decides enough is enough and signs up for a session at a camp called SEAL World, in hopes she'll discover how to be more assertive outside of the courtroom. And then she's assigned to Jim's team ... When an alpha male-smart, funny, strong, but terrified of a future trapped behind a desk-collides with a smart, funny, and quietly strong woman with a troubled past, sparks fly hot and fast. The tall, dark, and dangerous Navy SEALs of Team Ten are back, with reader favorites like Lucky, Joe Cat, Bobby Taylor and his wife Colleen, Thomas King, Rio Rosetti-and with Suzanne Brockmann's signature blend of love, laughter, and a hint of danger in SEAL Camp.… (mere)

SEAL Camp is about lawyer, Ashley DeWitt and Navy SEAL Jim Slade. Jim knows he is facing the final days of his career as a SEAL due to his failing knees, so he takes a job with one of his SEAL friends who runs a camp for people who want to challenge themselves by participating in SEAL type training. Ashley decides to participate in the camp because she wants to become more self-confident and deal with confrontation. Jim becomes her instructor and quickly recognizes her needs and her strengths, making her team leader. It isn't long before Ashley and Jim begin to fight an attraction that is completely inappropriate due to their positions in the camp and the real life problems they are both facing.
This story is classic Suzanne Brockmann. Even though it is short, her skill at writing about Navy SEALs shines through. There isn't anybody writing military romance that does it any better than she does. I enjoyed this story and found it interesting that it actually predates some of her more recent stories, putting it in the middle of her Tall, Dark, and Dangerous series timeline. The main characters were relatable; however, some of the supporting characters were a bit stereotypical, probably due to the length of the book. Overall, another very good story by Brockmann who remains right at the top of my must-read list. ( )

"Navy SEAL Lieutenant Jim "Spaceman" Slade's got a problem. A SEAL Team is only as fast as its slowest member -- and right now, thanks to his battered knees -- that's Jim. He reluctantly takes medical leave, but he's a SEAL, so he spends his "vacation" as an instructor, helping out a former Senior Chief who runs a camp for SEAL wannabes. But to Jim's shock, he finds himself falling for the one woman attending the camp session -- an obviously brilliant but seemingly timid lawyer who is determined to do everything her way, no matter how wrong. And then she's assigned to Jim's team.

Brockmann's TDD books are light, fun, and romantic, but I much prefer her Troubleshooter books. ( )

I'll read anything Brockmann writes, and I had read the original 11 books in this series back in the day after finding her Troubleshooters books. It is really nice to see more in this series, finally. Jim and Ashley were fantastic, and I loved the story and the secondary characters. I thought the soapboxing could have been toned down, but overall, I really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to more! ( )
