Following on from the corresponding book for Key Stage 3, this book contains about 60 pre-20th-century poems from the GCSE syllabuses, together with some 20th-century poems for comparison. Many are by women, and some little-known. They are arranged to link directly with syllabus themes: relationships, conflict, people, times and places, and reflections. Overview activities encourage pupils to compare and contrast poems on similar topics, and each poem is accompanied by an illustration, background information on the poem and poet, glossaries of difficult words and phrases, and differentiated activities and GCSE practice questions.… (mere)
