Katie just broke up with her cheating fiance Paul Micheal and is not looking to start anything when a hot guy walks into her work meeting. Only the hot guy is a girl, and she captures Katie's attention like no other. Cassidy is a girl who thinks of maybe outgrowing her playgirl present, and find love in a most unexpected place. As time goes and Katie and Cassidy get closer, Katie has to decide what is important to her.
I really like this book. There wasn't a huge third-act falling out wasn't that, it was just a small roadblock. Which I like a lot. Sometimes I feel like every romance book has to have that huge falling out and I'm glad it was avoided here. I like Katie's self-discovery and Cassidy's sense of self. ( )

I wanted to give this book 2.5 stars, and leveled up verses down because it had potential. Did I absolutely love it, no. However, it was decent.

Overall, I got it the target Camille Perri was aiming for, but I dreaded the flow of it all. Plot-wise, I loved it, until it got a bit too predictable. I did enjoy how Katie and Cassidy met. Boardroom; working a deal (which we never find out how that goes being that it began in the boardroom, I thought that would be expounded upon and a major piece of latter plotting points); two powerful women attorneys: one lesbian (butch and unbothered); one heterosexual. I said unbothered, yet later in the book at the ranch, the ranch hand refers to Cassidy as "he.him," she literally like a turtle goes back into her shell, totally juxtaposing her bravado prowess throughout the story. She doesn't correct him, and tells Katie how this often happens. That made her seem cowardice, which doesn't fit the way she's portrayed.

I did enjoy the way Perri showed Cassidy's masculine-energy by paralleling it to her softer side (like when Katie almost one-night-stands the guy she went on a date with, then runs to Cassidy). Cassidy totally comforts her in ways that I felt scared each of them in a way they were both unfamiliar with.

Again, I didn't hate it but for this being a "new world" for each of them and especially Katie, you would think that when the sex began, Perri would go deeper into their moments together verses each of their encounters being left up to the audience to visualize. I wanted to read more about what they were doing exactly, verse Perri saying, "Cassidy removed Katie's shirt and nibbled on her ear . . ." and then the next scene/paragraph begins with the next day. I just wanted more sexual prose, and less audience-wonderment. I was left visually unfulfilled.

The characters seemed real, especially Cassidy's close friend-group. They reminded me of women I've encountered in gay bars, etc. and were a lot like some of my friend groups where one person in the group is real thotty, usually get the attention of all the women. Even though Cassidy does change from the beginning of the story to the end, it's more of a slow burn and often very predictable.

Overall, it wasn't terrible, just minutely flawed in some chapters. ( )

I just finished this one and it's sort of hitting me that this is really how some adults come into and live in the LGBTQA community. It's making me realize that I, and a lot of queer people I know, have been lucky to have a support network fairly early. When Katie Met Cassidy is an amazing view into the life of two strong, female attorneys in New York City, discovering love and a new kind of lust while exploring what identity really means to each of them. It shows a different side of the NYC underground that many don't realize exists, while also looking in on some of the aspects of being a high-powered woman in a male-dominated field. Actual rating *4.75 stars* ( )
