This book is about a man name Jo-JO that owns a jelly bean store and tells riddles every week. There are many children that goes to his store to answer the riddle and win a jar of jelly beans. Jill and Ben goes every weekend, but neither has won yet. One day Jill was picked to answer the riddle and she answered correctly, so she received a jar. Ben was sad because he has never been picked, but he is very shy and doesn't speak loud. The next weekend Jo-Jo was having a big party, but he still did the riddle. Jo-Jo chose Ben this time to answer the riddle and Ben forgot the answer because he was so nervous. Finally he remembered the answer and shouted it out. Ben won the largest jar of jelly beans and a crown. ( )

Every weekend, Mr. Jo Jo’s jelly bean shop has a contest to see who can solve a riddle and win a jar of jelly beans. Ben and his sister try each week, but Ben is to short and shy to raise his hand high enough to answer the questions, even though he knows all the correct answers. But, when Ben finally gets the chance to answer he can’t remember the answer. This is a great book for either silent reading or a read aloud. ( )

Ben is such a shy boy. Every Saturday he goes to Jo-Jo's jelly bean shop and hopes to win the jar of jelly beans by answering Jo-Jo's riddle correctly. The only thing that is holding Ben back is his shyness. Ben is too shy to raise his hand in front of all the children around him that are raising their hands to answer the riddle, so they can win the giant jelly bean jar that is offered as the prize of the week. Finally, from being encouraged by Jill, Ben raises his hand and keeps it up high so Jo-Jo will call on him to solve his riddle. Ben is called on and suddenly loses his train of thought. Jill steps on his foot; therefore, making ben yell out "oh nuts" so he would remember what he was going to say to solve the riddle. Ben shouts "peanut butter" loudly and proudly! He wins the grand prize at the end of the story. Sometimes it is better to wait until one feels comfortable and confident that it is the right time to act. ( )
