I really liked that each page with text had a title. It almost seemed to be a chapter title, but the text was not always straight and centered; sometimes it was to the side or off center. These titles ranged from "I Feel Sad!" to "It's Not As Confusing As It Used to Be." These titles showed what the page would be about and expressed the narrator's inner thoughts. Another reason I liked this book was the last few resource pages. One of the pages, entitled "Activities," lists various things that can be done to help children with dyslexia develop stronger reading and writing skills. The other page, entitled "Notes to Parents," gives information and advice to parents that have a child with dyslexia. I found these pages to be great additions because they serve to help both children and parents who are dealing with dyslexia. The main message of this book is that even though a learning disability may cause reading and writing to be more difficult, it does not mean you're stupid. There are ways to help you deal with it so you can still be successful in school. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
This is one of several titles in Barron's Live and Learn series for younger children. They are books that take a child's point of view, especially if the child suffers from some physical challenge or lack self-confidence in going about everyday activities. These attractively illustrated picture storybooks encourage kids never to be afraid of a challenge. Following each story are four pages of suggested activities that relate to the book's theme. A final two-page section offers advice to parents. The child in this story knows the alphabet, but she sometimes has trouble putting all the letters together to read words. No matter how hard she tries, she often mixes up the letters or writes them backwards. She's unhappy until her teacher explains that she has dyslexia, and that she can be helped to read and write correctly. No library descriptions found. |

This was a sweet story, but it was a little too wordy for young children to read. Each page had a paragraph on it. I think it would be better suited for grades 3-6. ( )
