The fourth and final part of the Murderbot Diaries series that began with All Systems Red. Murderbot wasn’t programmed to care. So, its decision to help the only human who ever showed it respect must be a system glitch, right? Having traveled the width of the galaxy to unearth details of its own murderous transgressions, as well as those of the GrayCris Corporation, Murderbot is heading home to help Dr. Mensah—its former owner (protector? friend?)—submit evidence that could prevent GrayCris from destroying more colonists in its never-ending quest for profit. But who’s going to believe a SecUnit gone rogue? And what will become of it when it’s caught?… (mere)

Great story and a terrific ending makes this one of the best books in the series. Tons of action and plenty of murderbot human phobia. ( )

I've really enjoyed this series so far, and don't think that will change for the remaining books. They are a fast and entertaining read, with lots of action as well as character development for our favorite murderbot. ( )

Another good book in the series. I did find the book lagged at some points, I also had more interest in the story-line in previous books. But a short, great read, nonetheless. ( )

The biggest disadvantage of this series is that it just pulls me in and keeps me reading, and then suddenly it's over. Murderbot has to deal with repercussions from their previous mission and what happens to some of their humans because of their action. GrayCris are being idiots when they think that they can stop Murderbot from saving their found family.
It's short, fun and it feels like the author is having a blast writing this sarky grumpy robot. ( )

Exit strategy is the story of freed slave trying cope with itself after leaving its former owner. It is a story of Murderbot trying to pass itself for being an augmented human in society that views independent Security Units (read slave) as being so dangerous that capture will result in the unit being scraped for parts. Murderbot, its chosen name, tries to navigate between competing desires. It wants to keep its new found freedom. It wants to be protective of its former owner from being killed. Fulfilling the desire to save its former owner may cause it to lose its precious freedom. All this is happening on a space station full of political intrigue and combat bots with the missions to kill both Murderbot and its former owner.

This is exceptional writing. It does not preach its message of bots having the right to same freedoms as humans. None the less the message is woven through out the series and this particular story. This story in particular lets the reader see how Murderbot begins to deal with its own desires as an independent agent.
