It was just names of books, names of libraries and stores over and over again that I started skipping paragraphs. The idea of a bookstore saving endangered books was interesting but it was completely overshadow by the fact that it was just names and places and other information about how books were destroyed over and over again. There was an employee who was kept saying how busy they were but apparently had time to give a tour and point out, oh you guessed it places and events. It was just boring and I couldn’t bring myself to finish it even though it is so short. This story resonated with me on so many levels. What happens when the last copy of a book is lost? While some might think of this short novella as preachy, I found myself hoping it were true. As a retired librarian, I know far too much about weeding, about the abuses books can suffer, about the many ways books can be lost. It may not be for everyone, but I loved it. For book-lovers who also enjoy fantasy. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

Jim, a blogger, has just left a radio interview where he argued that nostalgia for obsolete items-- like books-- impedes progress, when a rainstorm strands him in Ozymandias Books. He discovers that Ozymandias seems to be an old-fashioned bookstore, but is a pristine, seemingly endless wonderland of books. While Jim searches for his childhood favorite, he comes to understand how tragic it is that some things may be gone forever... like the magic of books. No library descriptions found. |

Well this was a bust.
First person narration did not help either. ( )
