    Elizabeth af Ken Greenhall (sturlington)
sturlington: I would recommend reading Elizabeth instead of Baby Teeth. Similar themes, although the child is older.

There’s nothing like the love between a mother and a child. Except maybe hatred. Hannah loathes her mother but boy does she love her daddy. At first I felt sad for Hannah thinking she was autistic and struggling to communicate, but as the book progressed I quickly changed my tune. This book was an ok thriller. I expected a bit more due to how long the buildup was.

The characters were well written. I felt like the author tried to hard to push the envelope at times with Hannah. The creep factor was there but severely lacking, I can’t quite put my finger on what’s missing. I found myself skimming a lot through the chapters as they drug on with too much boring filler. I liked how descriptive Hannah’s chapters were, however I felt myself thinking that Hannahs character was a bit advanced to be that of a 7 year old. Overall it was a decent read. Curious to see if there will be a sequel.

I love a good thriller - and this book sounded like it was going to be an amazing one....it wasn't exactly that. It sounded like a horror movie setup - oblivious dad, worrying mom, and a little girl who wants to kill mom. It just felt like more of a bad horror film instead of one that would give me chills and keep me up at night. Hannah's voice is just too mature to really believe it's coming from a young girl. Had a lot of potential, but hard to get into when the younger narrator sounds so much like the older one (mom). ( )

I'm slowly chipping away at the pile of books that keep landing on my porch, and this one was a quick (but disturbing) read. The idea of sociopathic children is a theme that's been written about before (Shiver's "We need to talk about Kevin"), but the helplessness of the mothers and obliviousness of the fathers in these stories is always immensely frustrating. I can't say I enjoyed this book, but it definitely kept me turning the pages (and reinforced my decision to be childfree). ( )

I thought I'd give this book a try as it received "RAVE" reviews by readers at an Independent bookstore I frequent. I don't think horror or this type of horror appeals to me. I love a good Stephen King or vintage Dean Koontz, but this was very different from that type of horror novel. I didn't like the mother character, Suzette and as the father's character developed towards the end of the book, I liked him even less. Hanna had issues - lots of issues, but you did feel sympathy for her in the end...if that's the end. The only thing I did like about the book was the open ending - reminded me of the ending to Gone Girl.

I've come back to add to my review. I'm keeping it at 2 stars only because I don't think this type of book appeals to me. That said....I've thought about this book since I finished it. So, if you like this type of book, you'll LOVE it. Either way, you will remember Hanna and the UnderSlumberBumbleBeast. :)

I really enjoyed the book! It was both extremely interesting and terrifying. What would you do if your child hated you? Definitely a real fear! Please tell me there will be a sequel!!! ( )
