Garrett Wilder is rich, famous, and totally bad for me. After one night that ended with me wanting to punch him in his face, the self-absorbed rock star has become a permanent fixture in my life . . . whether I like it or not. Now I'm forced to see him every day, and that shield I put up to protect my heart is quickly crumbling to the ground. I've gone from hating him to craving him. And the scariest part is that he feels the same. He wants to know me. He wants to own me. He wants to corrupt me. And if I'm not careful . . .I just might let him. Contains mature themes.… (mere)

So this book ... I really hated Garrett for the first half. And I questioned Gwen's sanity for wanting anything to do with him, despite him being the father of her child. And at the end of it all, I still didn't love him. But Gwen did. So what am I going to do? To be fair, he appears to really love her and their daughter. So there's that. Garrett was funny, though. Sometimes. And persistent. And eventually gave Gwen more reason to love than hate him. And these two somehow manage to get a HEA. The book wasn't bad. The situation did draw me in, I'll admit. And I'm glad I stuck it out because it did end up being a fairly rewarding romance. I just didn't like how Gwen seemed to feel more guilt for making Garrett feel guilty for leaving her to have and raise their child alone for 3 years than Garrett did for being the one who was the deadbeat. That part annoyed me and made me think Gwen was fairly stupid. But again, she gets her happy life at the end, so I guess that's all that matters. ( )

It is a mega angsty heartbreaking read.
I have got to admit Garrett is not particularly likeable at the start and for quite a while to be honest, he is one of the reasons I don't usually read Rock Band romances, due to their lifestyle and their attitude to women.
He does work at it but I felt it was a bit dramatic they always seemed to be shouting and as soon as he got near her it was game over. I wanted to her hold out a bit longer to be honest and make him work a bit harder or maybe curb his drinking.
When a man is so easy with women it is difficult to believe he will last in a faithful relationship and making changes like not drinking as much when he has to go to functions that are connected to his business and his previous lifestyle would be a more convincing start.
I read it because it's Jessica Prince and I love her books but otherwise I may not have read it.
Even when he decides to try and make a go of it he isn't entirely successful in staying away from women so the drinking is definitely one thing I wished the heroine would have asked him to control. He does cut down but still seems to drink quite a bit and though he fights them off still women get too close for my liking.. If it had been the other way round he wouldn't have put up with it.
Anyway all works out okay at the end, it felt like things happened a bit fast especially considering her issues and his past treatment.

I'm not sure how I missed this series of standalone books by one of my favorite authors but I am rectifying it. I loved Gwen and Garrett. They were perfect together. I cannot imagine trying to live a life in the spotlight, let alone have a relationship without all the prying eyes or gossip. The author did a good job showing that. ( )
