A girl with a hidden past is turned over to the king's men for reasons unknown to her. She is rescued by a tribe of female warriors. The soldiers return to the king and are sent back to recapture her. The blind princess and her best friend, the son of the king's stable master are about to be separated. Magic is everywhere, and it's uncertain whether that is good or bad. And a deadly mist is creeping in from all sides.

I don't like Bleak. I get that she's the main character and there are reasons that she is the way she is, but I still don't like her. The thing is, you don't have to like her at all for this story to work. In fact, there are more unlikable characters in this story than likeable ones, which makes it somehow more believable. Princess Olena and Dash are darling and I looked forwars to their part of the story more than all the rest. The world building is intriguing as well. How could there be a secret continent lost to memory? There are so many unsolved mysteries, that I could hardly put the book down. I can't wait to see where the story takes us in book two.
