I gave this to my friend, who is a teacher, and it was better use for her than for me! ( )

This is an amazing resource for the elementary reading classroom!
Students acquire skills of text comprehension and analysis by moving through ladders of activities based on high interest readings (short stories, poetry, and nonfiction). Pre- and post-assessments with exemplars, and record keeping documents are included, as well as explicit instructions. The Jacob's Ladder program has demonstrated success through research in classrooms where it has been integrated into the curriculum. It is aligned to the Common Core State Standards. I am excited to add this as a supplement to the basal I now use in my classroom. ( )

Gifted learners provide challenge to educators whether in public, private, or home school settings. This 2nd edition in the Jacob's Ladder Reading Comprehension Program provides pragmatic ideas that will expand critical thinking, reading comprehension, and student engagement. Centered on advanced 4th grade students, areas of content include: poetry, non-fiction, and short stories. Educators will find examples of writing, typical literacy subjects like plot, main ideas, and literary elements, and "catches" to ignite excitement with your students. Useful for both reading and writing exercises, step by step lessons and worksheets are tools for deepening your lessons. ( )

Jacob's Ladder Reading Comprehension Program appears to be a good resource for homeschooling teachers who are looking for a curriculum to help them build confidence in their own skills. The introduction gives background on the reasoning behind it,plus it shows the ladder concept which helps childrens' comprehension to grow.

Some of the genres include myths, poetry and non-fiction.

I was given this book by the publisher in exchange for my honest review. ( )
