Upon first picking up this large tome, I thought "This is going to be a great day-to-day bathroom reader". It's got one page for every day of the year, with what looked like great entries for people and events that had something to do with that specific day. By the time I got to March (in March) I realized that the authors idea of what constitutes a "credible fact" is very different than what I would term a "credible fact". I started getting suspicious when one of their entries was about a man who supposedly lived to be 230 years old. Um, ok, that's clearly not true. Then they started putting in all these numerology "facts": people born on this day are prone to a life of sadness, yadda yadda. As if astrology was some sort of science. Some of their little factoids were actually correct, but it was so frustrating to read a book that was so full of obvious made up stories that were being told along side probable actual stories. It reminded me of the year in my teen life when I realized that the Bible was mostly composed of fabricated allegory. Needless to say, this one-page-a-day book soon became my least favorite daily goal to accomplish. But my inner obsessive/compulsive completionist kept me going till the bitter end (December 31st). I can't think of single reason why any self respecting rational person should read this book. It's not even entertaining fiction.
