![]() Der er ingen diskussionstråde på Snak om denne bog. This collection of fairy tales consists of many from collections familiar to readers like Grimm, Arabian Knights, Hans Christian Andersen and Charles Perrault. Some are less familiar such as The Light Princess from George MacDonald. Possibly more interesting versions than this one. Fabulous! How many versions there are of these tales! I was amused to find that "fee, fi, fo, fum" is not from "Jack & the Beanstalk," but from "Jack the Giant Killer." A must read for everyone! Kind of warped and demented versions of the fairy tales I heard growing up. They was all very dark and it seemed like most of the characters were evil. This is apparently part of an early 20th century attempt to inculcate what we have come to call cultural literacy. The author has selected a number of famous fairy tales, some folk tales collected by Grimm, some literary fairy tales. I am intrigued to notice that "The Three Bears" is a variation on Goldilocks and the Three Bears, although the bears are not described as a family, and the little girl is Silver Hair. I wonder if this version was at one time better known. By way of review, I can only say that the reader knows if they enjoy fairy tales. I have this on Kindle: since fairy tales often come beautifully illustrated, this is one that the reader might prefer in hard copy. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
