How the Crayons Saved the Rainbow, by Monica Sweeney is an incredible children's book. Being relatively new, I do not think this book has received the attention it deserves. When the clouds and the sun decide they can no longer share the same sky, therefore there can no longer be rainbows, the world loses its color until all that is left is a box of crayons. It is then up to this small box of crayons to restore color to the world. This book is an excellent addition to a classroom library and teaches children the importance and values of friendship, perseverance, teamwork, and courage. ( )

How the Crayons Saved the Rainbow is a story about how the Sun and the Clouds have an argument one day. This argument causes them not to work together, because they are not working together colors start to disappear. One box of crayons kept their color and they soon discovered that everything has turned black and white. The Crayons then decide it is their job to put the colors back into the world and fix the argument between the Sun and the Clouds. Children can learn a vaulable lesson from this book about how their actions have consequences that can affect other people. ( )
