Silent Source: a Medical Thriller. James Marshall Smith. 2016. This is not really a medical thriller to me. Yes, there were hospital scenes and the hero did have an MD, but it was more of a thriller. Damon Keane is a wonderful hero: ruggedly handsome, brooding, rich, single and educated. And he has a valet too! He has a doctorate in physics and is a physician. He is retired but does consultant work, and the mayor of Atlanta has asked him to look into several mysterious deaths. He is reluctant to do this because he plans to purchase a house in Tahiti and live there most of the time. What he finds is scary, very scary. The deaths are caused by radiation, and Keane eventually identifies the killer. However the killer leaves the country before he can be caught, and we go with him and learn more about him and his plan than Keane and the police know at first. Thornton, the murderer is amoral and vile. Suspenseful, violent, and interesting. I was surprised to read that the author worked the Center for Disease Control! ( )
