( ) The Last Tree is the story of, literally, the last tree…at least in this boy’s world. But not just the last tree. The main character has grown up in the city and only knows of paved roads, sidewalks and tall buildings. He discovers one small tree hidden behind a crumbling wall and separate patch of grass. Compare this to stories his dad has told him of places where there were many trees and so much grass kids could roll on it and just…play. I like this story. It’s simple, but gets the point across. The importance of caring for the planet we live on. The artwork is simplistic, as well, but perfect. It doesn’t distract, but rather enhances the story. It reminded me a little of the artwork from A Snowy Day, one of my favorites. Perhaps this book will encourage all of us to be more mindful of the plant life around us. I highly recommended this for all ages. It’s a great book for early readers. It would also be a great addition to the classroom, especially for using during any environmental events or for Earth day. I received an ebook copy for review through Net Galley. The Last Tree will be available for purchase on April 4, 2017. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

A small boy longed to roll and play in the grass like his father had when he was a child. But the boy lived in a concrete city without any grass or trees. Then, one day the boy and his friend discovered a sapling hiding behind a low wall. The boy had never seen a tree before. He was so amazed, he dreamed about the tree. When they heard that a condominium was being built right on the spot where their tree was growing, the boy and his friend knew they had to dig it up and replant it in a safe place. They had to make sure the last tree survived. No library descriptions found. |
