My son has Sephardic Jewish ancestry on his father's side, and is lucky to have a genealogist in the family that published a book about their history. I found the charters in this book to be very one dimensional, if not stereotypical. Of course the father in the story is irresponsible and alcoholic. And the Jewish ancestry is only vaguely referenced, there is no research or explanation as to why families stayed with Catholicism long after they were persecuted.
