"Treasure-hunting team Sam and Remi Fargo's search for a Romanov fortune brings them into perilous contact with an ambitious neo-Nazi clan, in the thrilling adventure from the #1 New York Times-bestselling author. In 1918, a ransom of enormous size was paid to free the Romanovs from the Bolsheviks, but, as history knows, the Romanovs died anyway. And the ransom? During World War II, the Nazis stole it from the Russians, and after that--it vanished. Until now. When a modern-day kidnapping captures the attention of husband-and-wife team Sam and Remi Fargo, the couple soon learn that these long-lost riches may be back in play, held in trust by the descendants of a Nazi guerrilla faction called the Werewolves. It is their mission to establish the Fourth Reich, and their time is coming soon. As the Fargos follow the trail across Europe, Northern Africa, and South America, they know only one thing. This quest is greater than anything they have ever done--it is their chance to make someone answer for unspeakable crimes, and to prevent them from happening again"--… (mere)

The Fargo's get a request for help from some old friends who are looking for a missing Nazi plane. This leads to a race with a remnant NAZI organization in recovering the Romanov ransom.

A good book. ( )

The Romanov Ransom is another excellent Sam and Remi Fargo adventure. The locale is Eastern Europe encompassing WWII Nazis. The story is non stop adventure from the introduction of the Romanovs fleeing Russia to the conclusion. This book is highly recommended for anyone who likes a good adventure story and therefore deserves the five star rating. ( )

After reading the last three Fargo series, I can say without a doubt this was my favorite. Needless to say after listening to 1/3 of the book I was curious about the Romanov's and was online reading more about their stories. Tragic. ( )

The 9th Fargo Adventures book, Romanov Ransom, is not too shabby. It's a fast paced romp through Morocco, Argentina & Poland where the Fargos and seemingly 2 other nefarious groups are hunting a hoard stolen by the Nazis from Russia during world war 2.

More action than historical accuracy but that's to be expected with this type of book. My main complaint that stopped me from rating this as excellent was after all the across-the-world action, cat-and-mouse maneuvering and investigation the ending seemed a little rushed. Almost as if the publisher had instructed Burcell/Cussler to keep it the same length as the last book.

Overall though it's entertaining on par with the other Fargo offerings. ( )
