A very readable and instructive book. It is not a commentary, but as stated in its title a book on "how to read the book of Revelation." The reader is not directed so much as what to believe, but how to arrive at a correct understanding of the book in a "fair and balanced" manner.

There is an appendix on the numerous Old Testament allusions in Revelation, which is most helpful. Another appendix is "A Key to Select Symbols In Revelation."

Lowery also includes many helpful examples, a glossary of terms, a list of recommended commentaries (graded for three levels of biblical knowledge), and a bibliography. There is no index.

I believe clergy, students, and lay persons alike will enjoy and benefit from Lowery's book.

Although the book is small (222 p.) be prepared to spend much extra time to lookup the many scripture references included. It is time well spent. ( )
