I enjoy the bold colors in this book, and I'm a sucker for anything with penguins in it.

Penguins love colors by Sarah Aspinall
Story of a penguin family where mother has named the kids all colorful flower names.
They decide to paint themselves what their names stand for. Every color of the rainbow is shown, one for each of the kids.
Mother just thinks it's so great and they must go wash for in the tub.
I can just imagine this and know my daughter will love her favorite animals in this manner.

This book was written with the young reader, like a preschooler in mind with its bright colors. Penguins Love Colors teaches not only about colors but about flowers that would be those colors and their names. The penguins in this story are surrounded by a blank white canvas of snow but want to make something special for their mom. The story teaches to use creativity even if it does get a little messy. The way the text is written it leads to open ended questions that can be asked of the young reader as well.

Penguins Love Colors by Sarah Aspinall isn't a book I would typically go for, but I thought it was very cute and great for younger students. I read this book because a girl that I babysit for insisted that I read it to her. The book is about a family of penguins all named after colors who want to surprise their mom with a birthday present, so they all come together to make a rainbow present. The writing is large and simple, and very easy to understand. The illustrations are what really elevated this book. Of course it is a children's book, but the way it is illustrated makes it engaging for adults as well. I think this is a great book because it talks about themes of family, but can really apply to any student - because they are penguins!
