The weakest Phase Three movie to date, but this stems mostly from it being stuck being one out of the only two that are centred around origin stories. The superhero origin story formula is trite at this point (as Marvel well knows), and not aided by nonsense like setting the entire film in a single year, rather than taking advantage of the film's structure enabling them to start Strange's origin many years before. Twenty years ago, this would have been a stellar film, but now, it is a bit too familiar to be properly memorable. It also struggles a lot with the recurring MCU problem of the underdeveloped villain -- I would happily have all these films be twenty minutes longer if they would spend all twenty on the villains so I'd actually invest in them while watching and maybe even remember them a year or two later. But that's where its issues end -- it's charming, funny, well-acted and, considering its origin story nature, even rather well plotted. So with its weaknesses well established in my expectations, I'd not be surprised if, over time and further rewatches, this movie might squeeze up to four full stars for me. Edit: I enjoyed the last rewatch rather a lot, so I believe it now has. I really enjoyed this film. The Marvel films sometimes go over the top with the fights and this teetered on the edge at times but managed to not go over. I'm also losing track as there are so many of them! But I liked this one. Benedict Cumberbatch is in danger of getting over hyped but he is a really watchable actor and although the jokes are few, I laughed at the ones that were made - I particularly liked the wi-fi one! I quite enjoyed this story but possibly that's because I don't really know Doctor Strange too well. I did think they could have used an older actor but Benedict Cumberbatch didn't do a bad job of this. Doctor Strange is a successful neurosurgeon who is involved in an accident (mostly his own fault for paying more attention to his phone than the road); after many surgeries he finds a tale of healing in a mystical place and goes in search of it, finding that he has to make choices about his future and this changes everything. It's interesting and I enjoyed it. It wasn't perfect and there were moments where I wondered what the links were to that moment but ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
