His friends thought he was different and thought he was too good for them with his golden wings. They abandoned him. He realized that when he gave away his golden wings they turned brown. After his wings were fully brown, his friends were happy to play with him again. This is not one of my favorites from Lionni. However, it is still a good read. I just thought the other birds should accept Tico Golden wings or not. It thought it was powerful that Tico gave his golden wings away to others in need. However, outside looks shouldn't matter. The inside of a person should. Tico and the gold wings is a great book about friendship. My students really loved this book, especially the illustrations. Tico wishes to get wings like the rest of his bird friends. When he finally gets them, their gold and his friends think he is trying to be better than them when all he wants to do is fit in. Tico gives up his gold wings to help others and to fit in with his friends. This is a great book about friendship and connecting with others. Tico is a wonderful book that talks about a bird that wishes beautiful wings like his other bird friends. One day a "wishing bird" crosses his path and Tico, asks for golden wings. When the with comes true the other birds become jealous of his wings, and they don't even want to talk to him. At the end of the story Tico gets rid of his golden wings and goes back to his black ordinary wings to establish his friendship with the other birds. This book is an amazing conversation/discussion starter with young children about friendship and diversity. Some stories tak on the part of Tico and his golden wings, but others like the idea of all being equal. It is definitely a conflicting book but, great literature. Ages recommended for this book is preschool and grade school. I really enjoyed the illustration in this story because it was so dense and colorful. The importance and value of helping others is stressed in the story of the bird's gifting away of its golden feathers. I could teach my kids that this story is about using what makes them special to help other people that are in need. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
