I'm ashamed that it took me longer than it should have to review this book! It's useful even if you aren't as curly as some of the sections of the book. I found lots of helpful information. I'm between Beach Waves and Tight Waves. Like the hair styling section as well! ( )This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. I received this book as part of the Early Reviewers. I have natural curly hair and have always found it hard to find a style that looked good on me. I loved the styles and the easy directions. I will have to say most of the styles are for someone much younger than me but I love trying them out on myself. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. Samantha Harris’s Curls, Curls, Curls is a compendium of hints, hairstyles, and advice for people with curls; it does not cater to one curl pattern, but gives a broad range of assistance. Besides being a guide to general information about curs and caring for curls, the book also contains step by step tutorials for 60 ways to style curly hair. The most notable drawback of this “How To” book is that many of the featured styles are more suited for longer (shoulder length or longer) hair and/or hair that has a looser curl pattern. There are some suggestions for creating “the illusion of length”, but more styles suited for short hair would be beneficial. Fortunately, Harris includes a “quick guide” to all the styles presented in the book, so someone with shorter hair would be able to glance through and determine whether the book would serve her/his haircare needs. On the positive side, Curls, Curls, Curls is well-written, easy to navigate, and a good starting point for someone who is a novice or perhaps intermediate at curl management. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. This is a good book for beginners, but doesn't have much to offer most people who have been trying to win the curly-hair battle for their entire lives. It starts off with tips on washing, conditioning, and other general hair-care tips, and outlines a few ways to curl your hair. It doesn't go into very much detail, just a quick overview on how to curl your hair without heat. The rest of the book covers hairstyles, most of which are very simple (a lot of the ponytail styles aren't even worth doing a how-to on). I found a few styles I'd like to try, but overall was a little disappointed in the style selection. They're all basically tweaks on the same 4-5 styles. I was hoping for more tips on how to curl and manage naturally curly hair, but instead got a brief overview of hair care and lots of how-to's on styles I could have figured out on my own. The book is very well designed and easy to flip through, but will probably only benefit those just getting started on managing their hair or who need some inspiration on a new 'do. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. Received via LT Early Reviewers. Many of the styles seemed most appropriate for really curly hair, and I didn't always have the easiest time following the directions or duplicating the look. But I did find a handful of styles suitable and easy to copy. The pictures are lovely, and most of the directions are fairly straight-forward. This might be useful for those assisting their daughters with long, curly hair, or for adventurous types that like experimenting with different styles. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
