Ripping sea yarns from the creator of Mutiny on the Bounty. James Norman Hall is best known as the co-author of the classic Bounty trilogy. In his later years, his favorite work was writing the tales spun by Dr. Dogbody, a peg-legged old salt who never lets the truth get in the way of a good story. This is a group of short stories of how Doctor Dogbody lost his leg...10 different ways! I don't know why, but this put me to sleep! ( )

Lover's of the tall tale or just plain sea stories will enjoy the way Dr. Dogbody entertains new Midshipmen, with tales on how he lost his leg while serving the King ( )

This is a thoroughly enjoyable book. Its a collection of stories, told by Dr. Dogbody, as to how he lost his leg. The stories are very entertaining. The setting is England in the early 1800's, so there is a little effort required to decipher the language of the time, but its just a minor thing. ( )

Hilarious tall tales by a seagong Munchausen. Each story --completely in consistent with the others --tells the wildly improbably story of how he lost his leg while serving as a ship's doctpr in the British Navy in the 18th century anything from having ot chopped off by an Indian's tomahawk to being eaten by wolves to save Catherine the Great.
