Note: I accessed a digital review copy of this book through Edelweiss.

This is an ABC book that I could use in a 4th grade classroom! It is fun hunting for the letters and is good mindfulness practice.

I've always loved scanning the landscape from the vantage point of an airplane window. Seen from above, human settlement is sometimes so orderly and other times so chaotic, but always interesting! I didn't expect this book to include the "search and find" element, which only makes it that much better. Children can use their imagination to find other letters as well, or shapes, just like we can search the clouds for "images". Some of the letters were amazing, such as "Q" and "X". A fun and educational book.

Great search and find, but don't forget to look at the landscapes themselves! ( )

This book provides real pictures of real cities from the sky that contain a letter of the alphabet clearly identifiable from above as shown in the picture. I like this ABC book because it connects the real world geography to the abstract symbols int he alphabet. Most towns and cities aren't purposefully designed to have buildings and freeways and lakes that shape into letters, so it's fun to play with the idea that we can find these shapes on our own - or that someone did design that. I like that this book includes a little geography as well, because kids are really interested in locations even though they don't quite have context yet for how to put them on a map. ( )
