( ) An explosive terrorist attack on San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge reveals a Federal witness, long thought to be dead, is still among the living. A video of the bridge explosion puts his face on television screens around the country, spurring those who wish him dead into action while the FBI focuses its efforts on tracking down the terrorists. FBI Agent Charlie Thompson, determined to protect their witness, calls on Michael Hendricks for help. Well-drawn characters, a strong sense of place, more plot twists and turns than a switchback mountain path, and top-notch writing make this thriller unputdownable. Readers will find the building tension and suspense keeps the pages turning until the final unexpected reveal. Highly recommended. This is the sequel to last year's The Killing Kind. Stop right here if you have not read that book yet. For the rest of us this book picks up a few months after the first one with Michael still reeling from that traumatic ending. Now he has revenge on his mind, but this time is on his own. Until unlikely allies appear and set him on a rescue mission that could help him track down the mysterious Council. A terrorist attack in San Francisco only ramps up the action in a scenario that seems all too plausible. Thriller fans will not be able to put down this book until the final page...which nicely sets up what I hope is book 3! ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

HTML: After a terrorist attack strikes San Francisco, FBI Special Agent Charlie Thompson calls in a former cover ops man and a young tech whiz to kickstart a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase. If the good guys can't save you, call a bad guy. When viral video of an explosive terrorist attack on San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge reveals that a Federal witness long thought dead is still alive, the organization he'd agreed to testify against will stop at nothing to put him in the ground. FBI Special Agent Charlie Thompson is determined to protect him, but her hands are tied; the FBI's sole priority is catching the terrorists before they strike again. So Charlie calls the only person on the planet who can keep her witness safe: Michael Hendricks. Once a covert operative for the US military, Hendricks makes his living hitting hitmen . . . or he did, until the very organization hunting Charlie's witnessâ??the Councilâ??caught wind and targeted the people he loves. Teaming up with a young but determined tech whiz, Cameron, on the condition she leave him alone after the case, Hendricks reluctantly takes the job. Of course, finding a man desperate to stay hidden is challenging enough without deadly competition, let alone when the competition's shadowy corporate backer is tangled in the terrorist conspiracy playing out around them. And now Hendricks is determined to take the Council down, even if that means wading into the center of a terror plot whose perpetrators are not what they seem No library descriptions found. |
