Another powerful installment in Brittany Cherry’s elementals series. Logan has lived a terrible childhood as the son of two addicts and abusers. Alyssa has a controlling, emotionally abusive mother, and a father who is never there. They have a friendship that turns slowly to high school love, but can two broken people do anything but hurt one another. Five years later, can they finally form something real? Powerfully done. I won’t go into detail here about the plot because there are some interesting twists that come up in this, but I will say that as always, I love Cherry’s ability to create real, relatable characters you want to cheer for, and beautiful love stories. Trigger Warnings: Please excuse typos/name misspellings. Entered on screen reader. “Logan was home to me.” I have had a book hangover ever since reading the first book in this series. I have not been able to pick up anything, so I thought maybe the cure was picking up book two in this series. This is another emotional story, but I just did not love it as much as The Air He Breathes. It was still an amazing read and very heartbreaking. This deals with some very serious issues and will pull you in. Anytime you pick up a BCC book, be prepared to do nothing else but to finish that story. Overall, I still loved this and can’t wait to see what is next. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

The angst became a bit overwhelming and I had to pause to recover before continuing. Everyone experienced some form of heartbreak, sadness, and pain. I needed some light. This was a true emotional rollercoaster. There were some parts where I thought the forgiveness came too easily and quickly.
I was emotionally exhausted when I finished but glad I read the story. I battled between a 3.5 and 4 star rating on this one because of the darkness and heartbreak. But in the end (for me), if a story still lingers in my mind after some time and takes me through a wealth of emotions, it deserves a bump in the rating for that. ( )
