If you like a lot of sex, a bit of mystery, some thrills and a lot of strangeness in your stories, you'll enjoy this book. Four people... two friends, ex-boyfriend, and a new friend...get drunk, argue with each other and, separately, each meets a female stranger. They wake up the next morning and find themselves in this strange hotel or brothel, where every sexual wish, some they didn't even know they had, is met.

Each has his or her own fantasies and hopes, sexual and emotional. We meet each member of the little group separately and are told the story of how he/she got there. Their confusion, the surprises, and the other people they interact with as they try to figure out exactly where they are and how to leave, or stay. Each of the four learns something about him or her self along the way.

With most erotic writing, there is sex without much of a story. The House of Fox has a good story to it, with a few surprises, even a couple of snickers and, of course, some likable characters...and the Baddies are Bad. Enjoyable story and yes, I would recommend it to some, but not all, of my friends, as not everyone likes explicit sexual scenes in their books.

This is the first in a long time that I've read anything quite this vulgar. This is also the first time I've read anything quite like this. it is wonderfully smutty. And witty to boot.

The House of Fox is a brothel unlike any other. Your wildest fantasies destined to be fulfilled. The only catch... you're dead and this is your afterlife. So what happens when you're bored with all the sexy shenanigans? Why, you'll have to go to hell of course!

I received a free copy of the book i exchange for an HONEST review.

I requested this book because I like adult humor. Not PORN but humor with an adult twist (like National Lampoons). This book is not what I expected. First, it is NOT funny AT ALL. The story is tedious and drawn out...the dialogue is WEAK...the characters are all uninteresting. I struggled through a better part of the book before I just couldn't do it anymore...I quit.

I am sorry to say that I have to give this book 1-star. ( )

Porn with a story!

The House of Fox is a sexy purgatory where pretty (but dead) people spend their days indulging in all manner of sexual depravity, satisfying their own desires while also appeasing "The Great Voyeur in the Sky". Four friends out on the town drinking wind up here after the lot of them were killed that night. After first thinking they merely stumbled into some incredible bordello, the alpha male. Dylan "the Dick" decides they should find a way out. Except his compatriots aren't so sure can...or even want to, leave.

There are rules in the House of Fox, and Dylan is challenging them. There is also an administrative overseer, Kitty, who becomes involved with all four of them. When Frank, the weasel of the bunch (reminded me of Frank Burns from M*A*S*H) shows signs of mental instability, he is consigned to the pits of hell. Literally. Dylan's quest then takes him on a Dante-esque journey through hell with Frank (or what's left of him) as his tour guide.

Characters in this story seemed turned on by everything; everyone was a nymphomanic. The sex scenes were crude and often repetitive, this could have been a better book with less of it, particularly if the author replaced it with more character development. It did appeal to the hidden juvenile in me, much the same way direct-to-video sex comedies sometimes do. ( )

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

So I think the problem with this book is that it wanted to be two things: an explicit sex story, and a sort of weird adventure book. If it had been either of these things, I think the reviews would have been better.
First and foremost, for any comments I make I tore through this book in about three days of casual reading. It's an easy read, the plot is compelling enough that you want to see what's happening. My real problem was - as an adventure book, there was no real tension building. They were either going to win or lose, and I didn't understand what difference either outcome had. As a sex romp, I didn't get enough description, and the description I did have wasn't particularly varied. Lots of wet panties and erect nipples, but not a whole lot else going.

This book wasn't great or satisfying, but it was very bloody readable. I'm not sure I'd keep an eye out for any other sex-related stories from SJ Smith, but if he released a book in another genre (maybe with a particularly explicit sex scene or two chucked in), I'd give it a look.
