I absolutely hated this book, I'm sorry to say. To be completely honest, I couldn't even bring myself to finish this book. It was not engaging at all, the structure of the book is not will done, the style it was written in is extremely boring, and I immediately wanted a new book after reading only the first two pages. It is split in two, with all of the math on the left side and the narrative on the right, making it very easy for the child to disregard the math altogether and defies the point of a math book. The math provided isn't engaging, it would have worked better if it was written into the actual narrative of the story. The math was relevant but presented in an unending way that easily turned me away from the book. ( )

This was a great math book! I love that it used pandas to teach math. It talked about how much they eat, their life, their weight, and even their poop. I know that children will love this book. It is so informational, and fun at the same time! ( )

This book, much like some of the others, had both math and science within the book. In one aspect of the book, there was a story about a Panda and information on pandas in general. In the other aspect, there was data calculations and pictures for some basic math problem representations. ( )

This book teaches children about subtraction using the everyday details of Hua Mei the panda's life. My favorite page is 22. This is where children figure out how many hours he was awake. The book gives step by step instructions to figure out all of the questions. ( )

Panda Math tells the story of two panda bears and their mother from the San Diego zoo. On the right page, the book gives facts about pandas and tells about Mei Sheng as she grows in the zoo. On the left page, there are math problems created from panda facts. I like the idea the book has, but unless the child reading the book has a solid grasp on the math concepts presented, I feel like the child could get confused. There was explanations for how to solve the math problems, but they were wordy and could seem overwhelming. I would like to read this book with a class and use the examples presented for guided practice. ( )
