I remember a school assignment in, I don’t know, 3rd or 4th grade called a “me book,” in which I had to answer a bunch of questions about myself and probably include some dreadful drawings. I answered the question, “If you could be anyone, who would you be?” with the obvious (to me) answer of “Tim Conway.” So it was great fun to read about Tim and his antics on set, as well as behind-the-scenes goodies on Vickie Lawrence, Harvey Korman, and all the rest. I really enjoyed the book until I was a little over halfway through, and then it all started feeling somewhat repetitive. That said, it was interesting to read what it was like producing a show like this. It was sweet there was so much affection and pride in Burnett’s voice as she wrote about her fellow actors. After reading this, I’ll need to track down some episodes for rewatching soon. ( ) Harks | Dec 17, 2022 | If this is the first of her books you listen to that cover the years during The Carol Burnett Show, you'll likely like this even more than I did. She narrates the audio herself and does a fantastic job, and the anecdotes she shares are funny or interesting and often both. It was a bonus that the excerpts from interviews with Tim Conway, Vicki Lawrence and Harvey Korman were actual audio excepts from the interviews conducted by the Television Academy. If you've listened to, or read, This Time Together, you'll find some stories (the best ones) overlap; there's enough fresh material in each book to make reading them worthwhile though.
