Even though this book is a good book on germs, it can become a better book to pair up with a little background knowledge to reinforce the lesson to children. This book does not have little detail, it focuses on the big pictures.

Pox is the main character who goes off to college where he learns to become a bad germ. He learns all the main entrance to get into the human body and what is the best place to attack. During his courses, he meets new friends such as Rash (measles), Scob (Tonsilitis), and Snot (Common Cold). As he is learning all of this new information, he realizes that being a germ is bad. Pox does not want to hurt anyone. He later becomes a good germ by staying inside of the human where he failed his mission to attack. The book introduces that not all germs are bad, some are good like Pox. ( )

Pox is a germ in training. Pox is a germ who is very different from all the other germs. He doesn't approve of getting kids sick. So when he is assigned to get a little girl sick it was a hard decision for him. When Pox was inside the little girl he didn't do anything, but then he was found by Myrtles Immune System. The immune system is there to destroy germs so they won't infect the little girl. But Pox was different instead he helped the immune system from other germs that were coming to get her sick. They made the little girl sneeze so the germs would get in the dog, the dogs immune system was already there to protect the dog from those germs. Pox was praised for protecting Myrtle. They also made him the " chief of the immune system". Myrtle became the " mighty myrtle the girl who is never sick". I really loved this book because I think this book is telling you that you can be who you want to be and don't have to listen to other people trying to make you someone you aren't . This book became one of my favorite books. ( )

This is a clever spin on a rather boring science topic. It teaches children about germs, through a germs perspective. The children can see the germs target areas, as well as, how germs are fought in the body. I thought this was a really cute way to teach this topic in way children would understand.
