This novella tells of a woman returning home after more than a decade. Her rape as a teen was never shared with anyone and she has carried the impact of the attack with her ever since. Mia Chastain hopes to set things right but her first night home her house is broken into and each day after that the situation escalates even though she has hired Tate “Bear” Parker as her bodyguard. By the end of the story the mystery of who her rapist was is exposed. In such a short story much happened quickly including the relationship between Bear and Mia – I am not sure that Mia would have warmed up so quickly in real life but this is fiction. The story was a quick and easy to read even though the topic was not always pleasant. If nothing else this book does encourage victims to tell of the crime so rapists can be caught and kept from harming others.
